Why Apex Legends Might Be The Battle Royale to knock out Fortnite.

2018 has been the Year of Battle Royale Games and 2019 seems to carry the tradition on with the Release of Apex Legends on February 4th. With games Like Anthem and Division 2 coming soon, Apex Legends appeared out of the blue and took Battle Royale fans (Such as myself) by storm due to these reasons.

I’m gonna seal the deal why it’s already god-tier with these 2 words… “No Bloom”… BOOM all you need to hear right there! No, but seriously let’s start off talking about the Shooting in this game and how it compares to most battle royales. Apex offers a WIDE variety of guns such as SMGs, Shotguns, Assualt Rifles, LMGs, Snipers and Pistols. Aiming where you place your cursor and actually having the shots hit really made this game stand out to me. Fortnite, on the other hand, is based on luck when it comes to shots actually hitting the target.

Another part of the game that is amazing is the Graphics/Theme! The Graphics take a pinch of Goofiness from Fortnite blended with visuals of PUBG (Player’s Uknown BattleGrounds). As for the story, Apex Legends is basically just a blood sport. The Characters in the game referred to as “Legends” compete to become the Champion! At the start of the game, you will find yourself looking at a small Cinematic where they explain a Tiny Bit about some of the legends. Not too bad of a storyline, but it’s a Battle Royale I could care less about story and lore.

Class development in this game is pretty cool and simple, you got the Healer, Damage Dealer, Tank, Trickster, and a few more classes. Obviously, they are going to add more classes in the future, just for right now they seem to be focused on Servers problems and glitches (Which is an awesome thing). Now one thing that shocked me was the number of cosmetics they had on release, and I’m talking like maybe 15 skins, 30 quotes, and 12 player card borders for each legend that was out. Power move by them considering how much money is being dumped in cosmetics on Battle Royale games for flossing reasons.

Last but not least, let’s talk about the beautiful slide and climb mechanic that was added to this game. Sliding to get a speed boost depending on steepness along with climbing to escape corner trapping allows for much more interesting outplays. I’ve found myself in a couple of situations where this mechanic saved my life as multiple teams closed in on me and my comrades, I saw a wall and I was over it in no time!

Apex Legends, in my opinion, is the best so far out of all the Battle Royales, a lot will disagree. If you happen to be one of those who disagree or something to add, let me know what you think!
