GDC & PAX EAST May look more empty this year due to Coronavirus…
As you most likely heard, Coronavirus is a new deadly illness that has yet to discover it’s cure. It was originally spotted in Wuhan, China, and from there spread like butter on a skillet throughout the entire world.
Therefore, Multiple companies (Sony, Microsoft, Facebook, etc…) have decided to skip PAX EAST & GDC. Recently, EA was added to this roster of absence from GDC.
You can not blame any one of these companies for worrying about the safety of their employees. Gaming events are awesome, but getting Coronavirus in exchange isn’t.
PAX EAST 2020 will be hosted in Boston, MA, from February 27th to March 1st. The reason these companies are worried about PAX EAST, may be due to the recent Coronavirus cases in Massachusetts.
GDC 2020 will be hosted in San Francisco, CA, from March 16th to March 20th. Same case as PAX EAST, but worse because California is the state with the most Coronavirus cases.
In conclusion, there may be more companies joining them soon. Also, did you know that Cyberpunk 2077 comes with a free Xbox Series X upgrade upon Xbox One purchase?
