Digagami Alpha presents Genshin Impact this time around! The highly-anticipated Gacha RPG has finally made its way into our Top three best games of 2020!
As usual, we have a video for those of you who would rather listen to my lovely voice than to read paragraphs right here:
I got you covered with my full rundown of what I explained in the video for those of you bookworms or people who like to read.
The most simple way I can explain Genshin Impact: Super-Simple Hack’n’Slash Dungeon-Crawler Gacha Game. All of this is pretty accurate when talking about the best free-to-play RPG of 2020 by far!
What is a Gacha Game, you ask? Well, to put it simply, Gacha Games are similar to Loot Boxes. You have a chance to get high-level characters and gear through the use of in-game currency and microtransactions if you choose to do so.
Think of it as a Casino, you have a chance to hit it big, but you could also end up losing some money along the way.
Genshin Impact’s story features a pair of twins seeking to enter another world, but they stopped by an Unknown God. This Unknown God takes one of the twins away from the other and sends the remaining twin to a land called “Teyvat.” That’s as far as I can go without heading into the Spoiler Zone!
Luckily if you are there for only the action, they have you covered with a skip button through most of the dialogue! I’ve paid attention to the storyline up until a certain point, and I find that combat is what brings me back to Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact has simple controls, yet the thrill you get from combining two or more elements is amazing! You use melee and ranged weapons, of course, but they mainly want you to focus on combining them with your elements. There are seven elements in the game total:
Combining elements can create unique reactions that deal various damage, debuffs, or crowd control! All characters have their own elements, and some characters are stronger than others.
For example, Diluc (5-star Fire Character) would be way better than Bennett (4-Star Fire Character). Rarity is always going to matter in most games, and it does in this one too. I wouldn’t completely rely on Rarity for enjoyment, because some of the Characters or Weapons are not as fun to use or play with in general.
This part is also straightforward, pretty simple as it gets actually. You see a character or weapon you like? Well toss all of the duplicates and lesser desired items in to the most desired item and boom you got yourself some higher leveled gear.
Just like in most other RPGs, staying up to date in levels against your foes matters. Luckily, it’s as simple as adding lesser-wanted weapons or leveling gems to get to the level needed for the job! I’m not going to get any deeper into this topic, but I will be making an article on it soon!
Like I said earlier, this game strives off of this way of getting better characters and gear. They call it Wishing in this game, and it’s basically where you go to summon said characters and gear. To put in the simplest vision:
Primogems –> Acquaint/Interwind Fates –> Summon Banners –> The Gamble
You have to spend Primogems, which I’ll get to in a second, to get Fates which then allow you to summon from select banners. Banners are another word for Prize Pools.
They will have different banners in each major update giving you the opportunity to unlock some new cool characters and gear!
Now, you can get Primogems from pretty much everything in the game. This includes:
Breath of the Wild spinoff or not, this game is getting a 10/10 from me and everyone that I’ve talked about it with! I’ve played this game for two weeks straight and I’m in love with the combat. If you are a fan of flashy elements, gambling addiction, and a good storyline, this game is for you!
Genshin Impact is available on PC, Mobile, and PS4! If you are downloading from PC, I suggest using Firefox or Microsoft Edge to initiate the download. For some reason, Google Chrome can’t load the website properly… You can find that website link here. Have fun Travelers!
