Ariana Grande’s Emo-Punk Birthday Gift

Victorious co-star Matt Bennett gave a tribute present for Ariana Grande‘s birthday last Friday, June 26, 2020.  She may have received all of her favorite things, but her friend and former co-star made her smile widest.

Bennett is an American actor and singer. He is best known for playing the role of Robbie Shapiro in the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious

Bennett paired up with his friend and artist, Shintaro Yasuda, to cover all the songs on “Thank U, Next,” Grande’s Billboard 200 No. 1 album in February 2019. The artwork for his rendition also shows him wearing Grande’s merch. “Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, here is our version of 7 Rings. Happy Birthday @ArianaGrande :)” Bennett wrote on Twitter yesterday, June 28.

Bennett’s YouTube video shows his emo-punk cover of the pop star’s famous song, which samples Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “My Favorite Things” from the 1965 musical The Sound of Music.

Yesterday on Twitter Ariana tweeted that Bennett and Yasuda’s rendition “outeverythinged the original” She called the birthday present “truly the best, most insane surprise ever”

Her boyfriend, Dalton Gomez, with whom she is officially dating, helped to throw her a birthday party with a surprise Midsommar (2019) theme.  There were flower crowns for everyone.

Grande has been keeping busy during quarantine. Her collaboration with Lady Gaga on “Rain on Me,” and her duet with Justin Bieber on “Stuck with U,” were at the top of the Billboard charts.
