Apple Removing Epic Developer Tools Next Week

Apple is removing Epic’s developer tools (Unreal Engine) from its app store.

This is insane news! Apple is going to remove Epic Developer accounts on August 28th, but Epic is asking the court to deny this action! First, it was just the removal of Fortnite from the IOS App Store. New info shows us that they are trying to completely wipe Epic from their IOS and Mac!

Now, this second act from Apple is completely unnecessary and petty. They are removing Epic Developer Accounts and Developer Tools. This means that games by third-party developers not even related to Epic Games will be removed.

I will agree with Epic Games here and say this is complete bulls***. Why do multiple studios/creators under the Unreal Engine have to suffer from petty actions by Apple? It’s probably one of the most popular/used engines in the gaming scene, but Apple doesn’t care, and neither do its users.

I and Lighthardt have 2 different perspectives on this case, but I’m not going to bash over who is more right. He thinks Epic is wrong in this situation, and I think Apple is going too far with the second act. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Apple because I think they are a toxic community, specifically their users.

The reason why I say they are toxic is that they formed this requirement amongst other people outside the community. For example, there are a number of Apple users who won’t date someone if they do not own an iPhone.Β  They also view the iPhone as a wealth status, which is bizarre to me.

Back to the situation between Apple and Epic. In light of my buddy Lighthardt, I will say that Epic should have checked in with Apple on their decision to make their Payment System with lower costs on Mobile. Obviously, this is a no-no in business. Making changes without talking about with your partner will always lead to some issues.

Hopefully, they don’t go through with this second act because I feel third-party developers shouldn’t be affected by this feud. If this decision is not swayed by August 28th, Epic will be completely wiped from IOS and Mac.
