AMC Theatres Will No Longer Play Universal Movies…

AMC Theatres recently threw a bitch-fit over Trolls World Tour making lots of money through digital.

Trolls World Tour went digital and made about $95 Million according toΒ  The Wall Steet Journal. The studio seems to be hiding some income so they changed it from $95 million to $77 million, which isn’t bad still.

Off that note, AMC Theatres wasn’t too happy about this and released a Press Release… “Going forward, AMC will not license any Universal movies in any of our 1,000 theatres globally on these terms” says AMC CEO/President Adam Aron.

Adam isn’t done there, he then says this:

” This policy is not aimed solely at Universal out of pique or to be punitive in any way, it also extends to any movie maker who unilaterally abandons current windowing practices absent good faith negotiations between us”

Adam Aron

It’s almost like he forgot there is a Global Pandemic going on currently, but this is theatre we are talking about so no surprise… I honestly think this was a horrible move by AMC, they just made it clear that they aren’t too smart…

Trolls World Tour wouldn’t have made any money through theatres considering there is A GLOBAL PANDEMIC going on. It was a uber-smart move by Universal to make their movie Direct-To-Home during this time.

AMC doesn’t care though, they think people want to go catch Covid-19 to see Trolls World Tour, in a place where people have to sit an inch from each other…

2020 needs to be a movie, this would be a great film to produce!
